Maumee students not welcoming
By Bailee Brown
With only two days left to vote in Battle of the Bands, Perrysburg has some extra motivation to beat the Maumee band.
While the rivalry game ended well for the Perrysburg football team, it wasn’t all great. The Maumee student section let the members of the PHS marching band have it.
A Perrysburg junior named Meredith Schwiebert, who is in the marching band, said, “during the halftime performance the Maumee student section were being very rude by saying that we couldn’t do our dance during our show. They were also flipping us off while chanting, ‘You can’t do that! You can’t do that!’”
Now of course, I may be biased considering I am a student at Perrysburg, and I am unsure of how our student section acted during this, too. That doesn’t mean the student section had the right to treat another school with that much disrespect.
Hopefully next year the students will be more respectful and kind to the opposing team.
Currently the Battle of the Bands is going on with many schools but the two schools in the lead are Perrysburg and Maumee. Thursday throughout the day Perrysburg’s voting was down. So through the entire day Maumee had time to vote all day and are as of 1:35 p.m. on Friday Maumee had 46.91 percent of votes while Perrysburg had 38.31 percent.
With quite a few votes until Sunday, which is when the polls close, maybe we can still make a comeback!
