The PHS girls basketball team is looking forward for its upcoming season, featuring three seniors in the starting lineup — Lindy DeLong, Allex Brown, and Kayla Piezer.

Brown is coming off a soccer season where she was named to the second team all state, and is a recent commit to IUPUI in Indianapolis for basketball.

“It’s exciting to know I’ve been on the team for four years,” said Brown when asked about what it is like being a senior on the team. “It’s a great feeling being a captain, it’s a great leadership role.”

The other two starters are juniors Erika Joldrichsen and Taylin Hunter.

Brown and DeLong have been on the varsity squad the previous three seasons. The Yellow Jackets have had a great deal of success with a 46-6 overall record, going 28-0 in the NLL.

“The teams strengths are the shooters, team chemistry, and work ethic,” said coach Todd Sims on this years squad. “Team depth needs to develop.”

Coach Sims also said  Northview is “stiff competition, having three girls over six feet.”

“Northview is going to be tough, along with Southview and Springfield.” said Brown, on their league competition.

The Jackets also play Notre Dame and Central Catholic, which are expected to be tough games.

Come out and support the girls basketball team, and expect a great well fought season.
