For the first time in years, the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets beat Central Catholic High School and Perrysburg students swarmed the field following the 35-28 victory.

Many believe that this is a good sign for Perrysburg’s odds for the playoffs.

“We’re going all the way man!” said junior Alex Polcyn.

With wins against Whitmer (Aug. 29) and Clay (Sept. 5)  to start the year, the student section was packed for the home opener on Sept. 12. In addition those victories, The Jackets shutout Bowling Green 25-0 on Sept. 19 and then routed Napoleon 45-7 on Sept. 26.

Sophomore Hannah Pawlicki claims our odds are “pretty good”.

Everybody knows that when Perrysburg plays at home, Steinecker Stadium is the place to be, for a variety of reasons. School spirit has been high with the team’s success.

“I think it’s a very positive thing, and when you look at other schools where the football team hasn’t done as well as ours has the past couple of years, it’s kind of bland on Friday nights,” said Principal Michael Short about PHS school spirit.

“I love hanging out with friends” Pawlicki said while standing in the student section.

On the other hand, after a Perrysburg touchdown Polcyn screamed “The loud, exciting atmosphere — It’s everything you need for a game!”
