Kevin English, a teacher at Perrysburg High School, has been named BCSN Teacher of the Month for January 2013.

Every month BCSN chooses a student and teacher of the month from school nominations. These students and teachers are then in the running against the winners of other months for the title of Student of the Year or Teacher of the Year.

Mr. English will be running against seven other teachers throughout the Toledo area for the title.

“I’d rather the attention be on the students or other teachers,” Mr. English humbly told eSomethin’.

Mr. English informed eSomethin’ that his teaching career stems from his love of “working with the teenagers and helping them become better students and help[ing] them prepare for their future.” He coupled this passion with his love for Biology and has been teaching at Perrysburg the past 18 years.

Mr. English said that this award means a lot to him and that it is neat to be recognized for the things he has done at PHS. As a beloved teacher of both Biology and A.P. Biology, Mr. English works hard with Student Council and as a co-chair for the science department.

Mr. English said a lot of his success comes simply from “hardwork and just being honest with people and treating people with respect.” He added that he would like to thank the students for their efforts because “they’re the ones who do the work.”
