You can be fashionable and warm with layering
By FIONA CONNOLLY
Hurricane Sandy is moving in, marking the start of the cold winter weather, so dressing both fashionably and warmly isn’t always that easy. But you don’t have to worry about ruining your look because you need to stay warm.
Layering is key for any girl who wants to look good while staying comfortable.
Layering is not a new fashion trend. It’s one of those things that never gets old, as long as you update the clothes you are using to layer. For example, no short-sleeved tee’s over a long-sleeved tee. That wasn’t even stylish in fifth grade.
Instead, try a large, loose-knit sweater over your favorite sundress or the same sweater over a colorful button down with an a-line skirt. The possibilities are endless and you don’t even need to go buy anything new.
Layering is also another way to mix your prints. A simple cardigan over two- layered, printed tank tops is a great way to incorporate three of the latest fall trends into one, without being overwhelming.
When you are choosing things in your closet to layer, make sure you don’t have too many things of the same shape.
For example, three different button-down shirts over each other are not going to work well. Instead, wear one of those button-downs over a plain V-neck tee with a cardigan on top. The different shapes of each piece will make your outfit more interesting.
Whatever you choose to wear, it is really hard to go wrong with layering so follow you instincts. Don’t forget to wear your clothes with confidence!
