Girls soccer team advances to regional championship

Yel­low Jack­ets remain perfect after 3-0 win over Anthony Wayne

BOWLING GREEN — Perrysburg senior standout Maddy Williams scored a goal and added two assists Wednesday night to lead the unbeaten Yellow Jackets to a 3-0 victory over Anthony Wayne in a girls Division I regional soccer semifinal at Bowling Green State University.

Perrysburg, 20-0-0, will play in the regional championship game against ninth-ranked Medina on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. at Sandusky High School. Medina beat Westlake 1-0 in overtime in the other semifinal game on Thursday.

After being stopped on three prior shots by Generals goalkeeper Taylor Hill, Williams scored her 45th goal of the season on a left-footed shot from 15 yards out on the right side in the 24th minute.

Williams has scored at least one goal in every match this season for No. 1-ranked Perrysburg (20-0-0), which has outscored its foes 103-5 this season.

Freshman Beth Glowacki scored first on a left-footed kick from 15 yards out on the left side at 10:07 in the first half and junior Lucy Walton scored the Yellow Jackets final goal with 29:55 left in the game.
